Scholarship

The difference between the number of people who need mental healthcare and those who actually receive it, also known as the mental health treatment gap, is a widespread phenomenon that is especially prominent among racial-ethnic minority groups, the LGBTQ community, and underserved urban and rural communities.

All people deserve equitable access to quality and comprehensive mental health care. But unfortunately, some of the populations most in need of such care have historically been, and continue to be, the most underserved. To increase access to critical mental health resources for underserved communities, we must start by addressing two critical barriers: cost and workforce representation.

Creating more equitable access to quality mental health care for underserved communities requires increasing the pipeline of a more diverse workforce. That means intentionally investing in workforce recruitment, training, and education of practitioners from historically underserved communities.

In order to do our part in narrowing this gap, we at the DMV Ketamine Training Center are providing one scholarship valued at full cost of the training to one participant who will attend our training. The DMVKTC vision is to provide a sustainable model of training therapists, counselors, and prescribers in the DMV area who are providing care to disadvantaged people using ketamine or who see the need and can refer to practitioners who use ketamine.

In order to be considered and selected for the scholarship, the applicant must:

• State and show financial need.

• Be a behavioral health advocate in an accredited organization, a board certified or eligible nurse practitioner, a licensed member of a faith based organization or a board certified or eligible physician concentrating in behavioral health.

• At least 1 year of experience in their chosen field of practice.

• Commitment to culturally relevant and competent mental health care.
